Setting Up The Allotments in 2013
Some photos of how an empty field was turned into Aden Allotments way back in 2013. The photos were originally published on Facebook whih explains the white captions.

Following positive feedback from the community consultation carried out by the Aden Development Worker in 2012 the Aden Community Allotments Association (ACAA) was formed to help develop allotments and a community garden within the grounds of Aden Country Park. The ACAA then went on to successfully apply for £77,000 of funding from Keep Scotland Beautiful - Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) to develop the site. The committee who set up the allotments were Lee Minion (chairperson, Georgia Skinner (secretary), William Bruce (treasurer, Neil Shirran (Aden Development Officer), Jack Grant (Aden Landscape manager), Donald Brown (Project Manager), Heather Dilworth, Gavin Minion, Dave Skinner, Kevin McDonald and Molly Wilkins.

Removing the soil from the car park area.

The surplus soil was moved to the north side of the site to increase the soil depth here.

Where the path curves at the east end.

Sometimes the excavated soil was spread over the adjacent plots.

The edge of the path was tapered off so that everywhere would be level after ploughing.

Unfortunately all this damaged the south west corner of the car park which had to be redone.
